1946 - An airborne object crash-landed on a ranch 75 miles northwest of Roswell, New Mexico. The debate over whether it was an alien spacecraft or secret government weather balloon remains at the heart of the Roswell UFO incident.
2003 - NASA launched the robotic rover, Opportunity, to the planet Mars. As of 2014, Opportunity remains active and has exceeded its original mission by over 10 years!
